Kennedy Mines

So, let's get some more photos. I have a few inside the museum. In one photo of the old miners you can see the main structure. I also have Nancy attempting to push a mine cart. Photos by Nancy Kozicki (except the one of her).

Gold In Them There Hills

Nancy Barb and I are at Sutter Gold Mine. We climbed aboard a tram and went down into the mines. No lights so we had to bring flashlights as well as wearing hard hats. Saw some great stuff. Owner Chris and me. She was a miner and one of her artifacts is there. Photos by Nancy Kozicki

Dinner in Volcano

Volcano, another town in Amador County, has a Community Theatre a few doors down from the St. George Hotel, which houses a bar called Whiskey Flat. Barb and Nancy were supposed to join me but got lost as they attempted to bring in their luggage to check into the restaurant. One photo is of the bar. Another of the outside deck. One food photo. Yum, yum.

Bray Vineyards and Olive Oil Too

Next winery in Plymouth was Bray Vineyards. Check out their logo. Too much wine? Not only do they make some great wines in the Shenandoah Valley area in Amador County, they grow olives as well. Try stomping on olives! It's the pits! One of the wines is called, Brayzin Hussy Red, which has %50 less skins. Maureen Funk dreams of becoming a Brayzin Hussy.

Wineries in Amador County

The first winery that I went to was Terra d'Oro/Montevina Winery in Plymouth. I'm sure that there are wineries that are as huge, but I never had a tour as vast as this one. Not just one of the cellar. Tour was with the little young winemaker Chris Leamy. Even checked out a vat still brewing.

Amador I Adore

California's Amador County was the next leg after Folsom and there is certainly plenty to write about. After hanging with Janye from tourism, Nancy picked me up and transferred me to Maureen to begin the Amador experience. Checked in at Days Inn in Sutter Creek. Would you believe that it's time for lunch? Amador Vintage Market in Plymouth with Chef Beth Sogaard. Great sandwiches, salads, soups. They even have Ciao Bella gelato.
