IT WAS A NUTRISYSTEM DAY

Breakfast consisted of my mixing 1/3 cup of fat free milk with: wheat flour, oat fiber, corn flour; polydextrose; dried egg white; wheat gluten, contains 2 percent or less of the following: potassium bicarbonate, high maltose corn syrup, corn syrup solids, whey protein concentrates, soy lecithin, modified starch, maltodextrin, mono & diglycerides, xanthan gum, salt, sucralose, monocalcium phosphate, and sodium aluminum phosphate.

Lunch consisted of my mixing water with: pre-cooked split green peas, barley, omegasol (dextrin, oat bran , citrus fiber, refined fish oil [anchovy oil, sardine oil, fish gelatin {tilapia, sardine, and anchovy}, sodium polyphosphate, sodium ascorbate, canola oil, natural flavor, tocopherols, sunflower oil, citric acid], microcrystalline cellulose, xanthan gum, konjac flour), yeast extract, natural flavors, vegetables (onion, potatoes, garlic, parsley), sea salt, black pepper, lemon, and citric acid.

Dinner: water, cooked beef (beef, slat) enriched egg noodles (water, enriched durum flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid, whole eggs, wheat gluten, egg whites glyceryl monostearate), baby corn, carrots, water chestnuts, green bell peppers, red bell peppers, pineapple, modified cornstarch, teriyaki sauce powder (fermented soybeans, wheat, salt), maltodextrin, chicken extract, spices, caramel color, vitamin E, potato starch, vinegar, toasted sesame seeds, hydrolyzed corn, soy and wheat protein, dehydrated garlic, xanthan gum, dehydrated onions, caramel color, citric acid, disodium inosinate and disodium guanylate, flavoring, and sucralose.

You’ll have to excuse me while I pause here to deal with my eyesight. I tried my best to read the ingredients with a magnifying glass, but I am unable to do that and type at the same time. Back to the next.

Dessert: water, sugar, wheat protein isolate (wheat gluten, phosphate, lactic acid, sulfite), whole wheat flour, enriched bleached flour (wheat flour, reduced iron, niacin, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), egg (chicory) inulin, soybean oil, glycerol, corn fiber, maltitol, contains 2 percent or less: nonfat dry milk, leavening (sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium bicarbonate, corn starch and monocalcium phosphate), sodium carboxymethlcellulose, sunflower lecithin, tocopherylacetate (vitamin E), propylene glycol mono-and diesters of fats and fatty acids, mono-and natural butter flavor (maltodextrin, natural butter flavor, annatto and turmeric [for color], “conatins milk”), sucralose, salt, potassium sorbate (preservative).

In other words: pancakes, split pea soup, beef and noodles in teriyaki sauce and golden pound cake. How do they do it? How do they get all of those ingredients into the small portioned meals?

Nutrisystem Update

Nutrisystem update. Got pretty difficult due to the loss of my beloved cat. Depression can interfere with weight loss. No, I didn’t gain weight. I do find that eating out is quite hard as I don’t seem to choose the correct things. I went to a New York Sharks practice and wound up with a small roast beef sandwich with little mayo. Enough to hold me over until dinner time. However, after the Expo I went to dine with some of the Sharks as they are supportive of the GLBT community. We ate at Hot Wings and that’s what I ate!!! Mild, but full of calories. When I got home I had a salad.

It appears that Nutrisystem has a lot of new items. Dinners: chicken with almonds, rice and veggies; chicken pasta parm; lemon butter sauce with chicken; past primavera with tofu; teriyaki beef; sweet and sour chicken; turkey tetrazinni; beef tacos; chicken breast patty; grilled chicken breast and cheese spinach ravioli with meat. Desserts: mint chocolate crunch bar and chocolate crunch bar are not like the “supplement” bars but a real chocolate bar; golden pound cake; chocolate pound cake; cheese puffs; and microwave chocolate cake. The last will be interesting as I don’t have a microwave. I’m going to check out the chicken with almonds, etc and the chocolate pound cake. This chicken dinner was one of their best tasting and the pound cake was just sweet and chocolatey enough. Tonight I had the lemon butter sauce with chicken. Another great one.

Now...here came a test. How do I prepare the microwavable chocolate cake without a microwave? I did it in my NuWave oven. I kept it in for a bit too long and was not the best tasting. I prefer the pound cake to this one.

Nutrisystem Update

I'm losing it, I guess. Like to share a recent experience. I had a dinner that was just awful! Zesty Canjun Style Chicken with Sausage. It didn't taste bad going down, but not only did I have this really bad aftertaste, but I was feeling a bit nauseous the rest of the evening. Brushing my teeth and tongue didn't help and the gas was so bad that I had to leave the room after the omission. Funny how it doesn't bother ones cat or dog, huh? I called Nutrisystem. Since this was the first time with an order, I didn't choose the items and of course wouldn't know how they tasted, etc.

I was interested in seeing if I would be able to return items and exchange. So, here was the deal. No problem. I told them what I would be returning and chose want I wanted instead. I am to pack the returns in a box and send it to them to include the exchange number and later to call in the tracking number. I am to pay for the shipping to them, but they will ship the exchanges with no charge. Now, I know for the next time.
